️⃣ Emotional health. For the employer, it was emotional health, psychological stability that came to the fore and became more important than hard skins. During the war, the risks of staff instability increased. The teams began to crumble. Therefore, at the moment, during the selection of personnel, recruiters check not so much competencies as the emotional state of the candidate and how he copes with everything. Employers also began to invest more in staff development and support.
️⃣ Remote or offline? A lot of high-quality personnel went abroad. And those who did not leave, but speak English, began to prefer remote form of employment. The pandemic contributed to a smooth transition of companies to online mode. But on the other hand, it significantly depletes employees, so now there are many who prefer the office, especially with a generator.
️⃣ Gender advantages. I used to very often hear from an employer that his ideal candidate is a man or girl without a family and children. And now more and more often I hear that the ideal candidate for the top position is a woman who has permission to travel abroad, or a woman with children who will not be taken into the army. That’s such a turn.
️⃣ Employer market. Currently, the employer’s market has further strengthened in Ukraine, when exactly he dictates his conditions and rules of the game. The number of candidates has tripled, and the number of vacancies has halved (these statistics need to be checked and evidence must be haved). Therefore, the employer can hire better personnel for less money. This trend can accumulate candidates’ dissatisfaction with the Ukrainian employer and the desire to enter international markets more and more often.
️⃣ Soft Skills are more important than hard skills. Values, employee maturity and responsibility are what is indispensable and valuable. Teaching new skills is easier than changing the person himself. Then, when in Ukraine it is so important that teams do not fall, so that there is stability in business, soft skills play a key role.
️⃣ Universal soldier. After being accurately confident in the values and character of the candidate, they usually look at professional competencies. And today, more and more employers prefer candidates who have more than one skill, not narrowly focused for one area and one competence, but those who develop themselves comprehensively and will be able to combine several roles in the company. This is how business thinks today, hiring staff, because in this way it optimises staff costs. It will not always work out qualitatively here, because of course it is better when a specialist develops in one thing. But this is a new reality, so it is worth knowing that it is worth developing yourself in several related directions. It is also worth having the flexibility and ability to change your profession, because currently many professions are disappearing.
