A resume is the first impression of you, which is then very difficult to change. Unless you are looking for a job through acquaintances or in a small city where relationships are more important, what others will say about you, that is, your reputation.
But in any case, I think it’s important to work well on your resume, which will be your business card.
So, a few tips for writing it:
1. Make an individual resume for each vacancy. Choose two or three positions for which you will send a resume, and develop your corresponding CV for each. There, describe and emphasize the experience, skills, trainings in which the employer is interested. Remove inexperience and learning. For example, if you submit a resume for an assistant deputy, then he is not interested in your experience of the teacher, he is interested in a similar path already passed.
2. The summary should be concisely short. Up to two pages are best.
3. At the beginning of the resume, be sure to write 1-2 paragraphs that will briefly tell you about your hard skills, experience, achievements. This will be a kind of result of the entire resume. Often recruiters only read it and can tell behind him how much such a specialist costs.
4. Don’t write too much. For example, at the beginning, when you write personal data, do not write that you are a single mother or unmarried. In general, such things are your personal life and the employer should not worry about it if you are a valuable specialist. Also, do not write general things as a responsible, hardworking. I wouldn’t write a section about personal qualities at all, because your experience and achievements in every workplace will say better about you.
5. Your achievements. For each workplace, in addition to the duties you performed there, write your achievements. It’s very important.
6. Photo. Today, the trend is not to put photos on resumes at all, only links on LinkedIn and Facebook. But if you still decide to put a photo, then put only good quality and very restrained, official, without poses and views of the sea on the background.
7. Give a resume for proofreading. Mistakes, jumping indents, different fonts are like your unwashed face.
8. Be sure to add the referral contacts at the end.
9. And don’t forget about the motivation letter, which should always go paired with your resume.
